Schulman Canada where he worked as a millwright. In retirement, he worked for several years with Bearss Grounds Maintenance.

Walt was a Charter Member of both The Kettle Valley Pioneers and the Union-South Yarmouth Optimist Club.  He was an avid collector of antiques, especially anything made by Allis Chalmers. Walt was always willing to help and generous with his unique ability to problem-solve anything mechanical. He loved his boat and so enjoyed fishing Long Point Bay with family and friends. He was a member of Eastwood Fellowship Baptist Church, a wonderful congregation who loved him and whom he loved.
